sub/super script

Post by AlanMiller »

Just noticed this feature is missing ... or I can't find it. There is a (somewhat old) post relating to it here:
phpBB • View topic - [2.0.19] Subscript and Superscript BBCode

Maybe we can implement them?

It wouldn't be difficult, but how often are they needed? The Windows Secrets Lounge has super/subscript tags but I haven't seen much use of them...
Best wishes,
Hans

I have seen a watery post in this very Lounge with H2O in it, and of course there's that excellent Windows Explorer replacement (especially valuable in Vista and Windows 7) xplorer2, the '2' being 'squared').

But no, not an everyday requirement.

I have added sub and sup tags, I'll add a description to the tutorial in Words From On High.
Best wishes,
Hans

I think xplorer2 is useful in XP too.

(Just an excuse to try out the new feature really!)

Very true - I use the Lite version mostly in XP at present myself. There are only a few annoyances, which pale into insignificance when compared with the bloated hotch-potch which is the built-in Windows 7 Explorer.

Geoff, I believe you are suffering from Three-Letter-Prefix Truncation (TLPT), which afflicts those characters in the heights and depths of a line of text!

Geoff, you know we don't allow advertising in the lounge.

I really need to start making coffee before logging on here. I read this thread from home this morning, culminating in Geoff's two tests above; and only now (halfway through my first :coffeetime: ) did I get it. :groan:

I was worried it may have been too subtle- but not so with the great minds in the Lounge.

Sorry to reply late. The exploding hot water service and consequent :free: floor wash had to take precedence. :sailing:
I see you have implemented anyway. :thankyou: To answer the question though, I find them useful and tend to exploit them when available, but can live without them... largely irrelevant now anyway.

Ouch! I hope nobody got hurt!

Implementing superscript and subscript turned out to be *very* easy, so I went ahead.
Best wishes,
Hans

Only my wallet. Explosion was probably an exaggeration - "burst" might have been more appropriate. But thanks for the sub/supers
