Sorry, we completely forgot about that.

We started setting up Eileen's Lounge at about 0:00 UTC on the 16th of January 2010; it was still the 15th in the Americas.
We opened it for public access 8 days later, shortly after 0:00 UTC on the 24th of January.
Best wishes,
Hans

It took me a month, then; but it would no doubt have taken much longer had I not received an email from Hans about the new Eileen's Lounge.

It has been a wonderful and remarkable decade.

 :chocciebar: :wine: for all!!!

It was the legend that is BigAlDoc :hailpraise: who directed me here after the demise of Woody's Lounge and for that I am eternally grateful.

Especially as it was only a few weeks later and solely because of this place that I and my family we were rescued when we got really, really, stuck in mainland Europe, unable to get home because a volcano in Iceland with an unpronounceable and unspellable name had erupted and shutdown air traffic.

As for the stuff I've learnt here, where do I begin? :thankyou:

Here's to The Lounge

Instant refund, or a North American-style Class Action suit.

Your Choice

It took me longer than a month, and I forget who invited me.
I do know that I was the last of The Old Gang to be invited, and the person who invited me mysteriously lost their account here a few days later.
Cheers

Once Bitten, Twice shy.
Last time I did that my bank balance didn't go up at all. Just the regular drinks bill from some high-class bar "Eileen's Lounge" in, I guess, Amsterdam.

Cheers

A belated anniversary Gruß from me.
I guess as the (many) years and decade(s) go by, it happens to us all that the odd Anniversary gets missed.
I see a lot of work went from the start into getting the Forum up and running… I see Bob first started testing way back in the early seventies, although nobody seems to have taken much interest at the time:

Wow!!! I'm impressed Bob.

Testing on Eileen's way back in 1970. You had a real head start on the rest of us who didn't even have a personal computer then. :fanfare: :fanfare: :flee:

Thanks Hans.
I'm on to it ...

Consumers won't need receipts to benefit from one of Canada's largest class-action settlements

One of the largest class-action settlements in Canada could be worth money in your pocket. And depending on the size of your claim, you may not need to provide proof of purchase. Unlike some other class-action lawsuits that require reams of paperwork, the application process is easy.
The agreement allows consumers in Canada, without receipts, to claim up to $250 for their Microsoft PC software, such as Windows, Office, Word, Excel or MS-DOS, purchased between Dec. 23, 1998 and March 11, 2010.

This could be the final straw that sees me leave Office2003 behind ...
(later) Dec 23 1998 to March 11 2010
Basically $13/windows $8/office
I have pulled as many original CDs as I can find from my shoe box and can reach only $144. Pre-installed Windows counts as $13, so how many computers did I buy in that period? ("Christopher can do better; he must try harder!") :sneaky: and how many of them did I give away?

:sigh:

Cheers
Chris

One of the ways that we identify spammers is that they tend to make new posts on old threads that nobody has looked at in a long time.

Be careful Chris, or you may find that you're entitled to that refund.

A long time?
I've dreamed of little else than a class action suit for eleven months now ...
Cheers
Chris
(later) on second thoughts, you don't need an algorithm to classify me as a spammer. There are probably one or two lousy neer-do-wells who would dob me in, given a one-month's extension of their subscription fee.

Well, Hans, you certainly took your time over that!!

I thought that I had established a topic on this, but I cannot find the thread.
Maybe I can use the $152 to buy a bigger desk, but then I'd have to scale down my ambitions for a bigger monitor to deal with my keyboard that is wonky ... :sigh: :bwaah:
Cheers, Chris
