Unable to reply to a PM

Am trying to reply to a PM. I click Submit and it goes into the outbox. At the moment, it's in there twice because I tried it twice.

Is there some period of time that needs to elapse before it actually shows up in my sent items folder (and actually gets sent)? What else do I need to do?

That is how it works, it will stay in the outbox until the recipient reads it.

Tony is correct. Unlike in an e-mail program, the message remains in your Outbox until the recipient (or at least one of the recipients, if you sent the message to more than one person) has read it.

While the message is in your Outbox, you can still edit it. The recipient will see the edited version. You can even delete it if you want to retract it - the recipient won't see it then. (But keep in mind that the recipient may have received a notification by e-mail.)

Once the message has been read, it moves to Sent Items. You can't edit it any more then.
